AI or Human? Visual Analysis & Critical Thinking Activity

By Color Me Creative Art Room

Can students really tell whether an image was created by AI simply by looking at it? AI or Human? Visual Analysis & Critical Thinking is a ready-to-use activity for grades 6–12 that challenges students to slow down, examine images carefully, make predictions, and support their thinking with visual evidence. Rather than teaching students that there is a foolproof checklist for detecting AI-generated images, this resource encourages a more responsible approach: visual clues can help us ask questions and investigate, but appearance alone does not always provide a certain answer. Students practice observation, visual analysis, evidence-based reasoning, discussion, and responsible thinking about generative AI and digital media.
