Short A (CVC) Games for Small Groups or Centers (10 games + recording sheets)

By Mrs. Magee | First Grade Brain

Ten fun games that will provide engaging, consistent practice on short a (CVC) word spelling and reading fluency! The ten games included in this packet are all focused on short a (CVC) words. The ten games feature the same pictures and words throughout to provide consistency for students to allow them to master the words and games more quickly. They all require little to no additional materials to play. The games include directions, a list of materials that will be needed (other than what is included in this packet), hints and tips if applicable, suggested uses, spelling keys (when applicable) and links to optional recording sheets to use after completing a game. Some of the games you may like to use with a small group, during reading centers or stations, or send home as a fun homework practice. The ten games are included in color and black and white. If printing in black and white, I suggest using colored paper to make it even more fun for the students. These games can be printed on paper (or cardstock) and laminated for extra durability, placed into page protectors and kept in a pronged folder or binder, or just printed on regular paper (if it is a game you are sending home for homework practice). It is my hope that these games provide a fun, engaging way for your students to build their reading and spelling confidence and fluency. Other game packs featuring other vowels and sounds will be added to my store as they are created. The games included are: Short A Spelling Race
