Construction Paper Relief Sculpture Art Project
By Color Me Creative Art Room

Introduce middle and high school students to relief sculpture and three-dimensional design using one of the most accessible materials in the art room: construction paper. In this project, students transform flat paper into dimensional artwork by cutting, folding, bending, curling, layering, and arranging shapes so they project outward from a background surface. Students explore the difference between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, learn how relief sculpture creates depth, and experiment with shape, repetition, texture, movement, balance, and composition. The project gives students plenty of room for individual interpretation while still reinforcing important sculpture and design concepts.
