Homophones Taught Four Ways for Grades 3-7 Word Work and Literacy Centers
By Micah's Learning Resources

Bare or bear. Sail or sale. Knight or night. Twelve pairs of words that sound identical out loud and mean nothing alike on paper, taught here through four modes that all pull from the same word set. What's Included: - 24 word cards making up 12 pairs. Each card carries its own definition, an example sentence, and a memory tip for telling that word apart from its twin - flour and flower, sea and see, bare and bear, weight and wait, hear and here, mail and male, plain and plane, sail and sale, whole and hole, knight and night, write and right, blue and blew - 8 rounds and 160 short phrases. Only one spelling of the pair is correct in each phrase, so students have to read for meaning rather than recognize the word by sight. The round ends only when every correct use has been found - 30 sentence-completion questions with a short explanation shown the second an answer is chosen, plus a score and progress bar - 5 stories (A Day at the Beach, The Lost Puppy, The Science Fair, The Camping Trip, The Bakery Contest) written with homophone mix-ups baked in. Students click each mistake to correct it and a counter tracks what is left - Four progress dots in the header, one for each mode Best For: Word work rotations, spelling and vocabulary blocks, literacy centers, morning work, homework, and sub plans. Grades 3-7. How to Use: Download the single HTML file and open it in any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). No installation and no login needed. Works on computers, table
