Teach All Eight Context Clue Types and Core Vocabulary Strategies
By Micah's Learning Resources

When a reader hits a word they do not know, the meaning is almost always sitting right there in the sentence around it. Students just have to know what kind of clue they are looking at. This interactive digital activity teaches all eight kinds, then makes students use them. What's Included: - 22 reference cards covering every clue type plus the core strategies that sit alongside them: root words, prefixes and suffixes, punctuation signals, restatement, glossary and footnote use, denotation versus connotation, prior knowledge, multiple-meaning words, sentence structure, author's tone, and the reread strategy - Definition, synonym, antonym, example, inference, cause and effect, comparison, and contrast, each with a definition, a worked example, and a tip for spotting it in real text - 8 rounds and 160 short phrases. Each round names one clue type and students select only the phrases that demonstrate it. Correct picks lock in green and the round is not finished until every one is found - 30 questions mixing word-meaning-in-context items with clue-type identification, each explained the moment it is answered - 5 passages (The Tiny Kitten, Desert Crossing, The Haunted House, The Deep Dive, The Baking Contest). This mode inverts the usual task. Every underlined word contradicts the clues around it, and students click each one to swap in the word the passage actually supports - Four indicator dots that fill in as students complete each mode Best For: Vocabulary instruction, reading
